Bad Bunny’s new haircut shocks fans and sparks wig rumors

This is what all the buzz is about.

Bad Bunny shocked fans when he debuted a new buzzcut hairstyle in an album teaser, leaving some to wonder what the shaved hairstyle could mean for his upcoming music.

The rapper, whose real name is Benito Martínez Ocasio, shared the teaser with his Instagram followers Monday, with a caption in Spanish that translates to “the most awaited day for many has arrived…”

In the video, Bad Bunny, 29, is greeted as “Don Benito” for a plot twist, entering celebrity-loved restaurant Carbone while looking dapper in a suit before revealing his bald head.

The “Un Verano Sin Ti” rapper wiped his Instagram clean except for the short clip, which sparked fans to compare this upcoming era and album — called “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana,” out Friday — to his 2016 trap sounds and style as it was the last time the star cut his luscious locks.

“He cut his hair 2016 bad bunny is back,” a follower proclaimed. “2016 in the house 🎶🔥,” another wrote.

Bad Bunny surprised his fans on Instagram with a brand new buzzcut.
Fans thought Benito was throwing it back to earlier in his career with his new ‘do.
Bad Bunny appeared to be hiding his new buzz underneath a wig, like Billie Eilish.

Another Benito supporter explained, “For those who need context: him having a buzz cut is a reference to when he first started his career. During this time he was mainly a trap artist so many associate the cut with that era. So with his video announcement where he’s bald he’s hinting at a trap album.”

Tons also said adios to Benito and welcomed back his on-stage persona, Bad Bunny, signifying the return to his roots.

On Twitter, fans wondered if Bad Bunny has been hiding his buzzcut with a wig attached to a blue LA Dodgers baseball cap he’s been wearing lately to keep the big announcement a secret, with one fan laughing, “I thought he was just a big fan of baseball fr fr.”

“Need that cap wig! and legendary behavior 🙌🏼 just like Billie Elish did with her green roots wig,” one compared.

The “What Was I Made For?” singer famously hid her transformation to platinum blond underneath a realistic wig.

Looks like Benito and Billie have more in common than just being music superstars.
