Dolly for SI Swimsuit 2024.
Christie Brinkley is just one of the celebrities who have recently spoken out in defense of the sexy Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costume Dolly Parton wore for a Thanksgiving day performance — and the model hinted that the “9 to 5” singer should take her body-baring looks a step further.
Brinkley, 69, posted a photo of herself with the 77-year-old country music icon on Instagram, writing, “Whoever had the nerve to suggest that the one, and only Dolly Parton should dress, her age should sit down!”
The beauty entrepreneur continued to clap back against critics who slammed the “Jolene” singer for wearing a bra top and short white shorts to perform at the Dallas Cowboys game on Thanksgiving, adding, “You should know you can’t define an icon like Dolly Parton by a number!”
“Maybe @si_swimsuit is next?” she suggested after calling Parton’s cheerleader look “inspiring and fun.”
Brinkley — who’s covered the magazine’s annual swimsuit issue a record four times, including alongside her daughters Alexa and Sailor in 2017 — also praised the country star’s “boundless good energy and effervescent humor” along with her “golden philanthropic heart full of love,” wrapping up the post by writing, “I’ll cut this short like your killer outfit and just say, LOVE YOU DOLLY!👙.”

If the blond music icon chooses to pursue SI stardom, she’ll join the ranks of Martha Stewart and Maye Musk, who covered the mag at the ages of 81 and 74, respectively.
Fans jumped in to support Dolly on the supermodel’s post, like one who wrote, “What a great idea!” and tagged the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Instagram account.
“1000000000000% love dolly she’s amazing and can rock any outfit and look fabulous ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” another commented, while a third fan added, “I didn’t look like that at 20 so ROCK ON DOLLY 💕.”
The Bellissima wine founder’s comments come after Parton’s 74-year-old sister, Stella Parton, and Whoopi Goldberg both spoke out on the controversial outfit earlier this week.
The “View” host exclaimed “bite me” after sharing that some people thought Parton should “act her age” and added that “everybody that participated in this, you should be ashamed of yourself.”
Dolly’s sister also had her back, with country singer Stella tweeting, “I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving.”
She concluded her post by writing, To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say f—k yourself. Shame on you not her.”
One silver lining of her sparkly outfit going viral? Dolly scored her first number-one hit on the Billboard charts this week with the debut of her latest album, “Rockstar.”
In the words of Brinkley, “you go girl!”
