Talk about glamour.
Jane Fonda arrived at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival ready to put her high-fashion new look on display, rocking a new longer hairstyle and a chic bold red lipstick look on the red carpet.
On Tuesday, the actress and activist, 86, arrived at the screening of “Le Deuxième Acte,” otherwise known as “The Second Act,” showing off a sparkling Elie Saab jumpsuit.
The plunging design featured silver and black floral embellishments down the front, and as Fonda made her way down the red carpet, a long train in the back floated behind her.
She layered a black and brown printed forte_forte coat on top of her one-piece look, adding a playful, unexpected twist, though she disrobed on the red carpet to reveal her sparkling look.
The “Grace and Frankie” star topped off the look with dazzling Pomellato jewelry, including a thick diamond choker, as well as silver Margaux heels ($295), which provided a final shiny touch.
Fonda’s hair was equally chic for the occasion, styled in a voluminous wavy bob with a deep side part. However, it was her bright red lipstick that really stole the spotlight, giving an otherwise neutral look an extra pop of color.
Fans were loving the look, with one commenting on fashion Instagram page Check the Tag’s post calling the actress “Thee most fab 86 year old!” and another declaring Fonda “divine.” A third called her “always in style.”
A fourth fan gushed, “The stylist took the Runway look and elevated it as a stylist should, and Jane Fonda ATE this up! This is what wearing the outfit looks like v the outfit wearing you.”
The film festival, which is known for having a strict dress code, is already proving to be especially fashion-forward this year.
On Tuesday, “Barbie” director and Cannes jury member Greta Gerwig made a statement in a striped Maison Margiela Couture dress, while actress Anya Taylor-Joy showed up in a burnt orange Atlein dress paired with extra-large Jacquemus hat.
Last year, Fonda made headlines at the event when she threw an award at Justine Triet’s back. The silly moment came after the “Anatomy of the Fall” director accidentally forgot her scroll at the podium and the actress was unable to flag her down.
Here’s hoping this year’s events go a bit smoother.
