The royal family isn’t giving this longtime footwear favorite the boot.
Meghan Markle bundled up in Whistler, Canada, for the 2025 Invictus Games One Year To Go event with Prince Harry on Wednesday, clad in a pair of Sorel Joan of Arctic boots she’s had in her wardrobe for at least a decade.
While the waterproof, faux fur-trimmed style is no longer sold in the Duchess of Sussex’s exact shade of gray, the similar Quarry/Black colorway is currently on sale at Zappos for 35% off, bringing its price down from $240 to $156.
As the Instagram account Meghan’s Closet Chronicles pointed out, Markle last publicly wore her pair in a snowy social media snap in 2014, making them a longtime favorite.
The duchess shares her love for Sorel with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, who first laced up a different style — the Pac 2 boot ($110+) — during a trip to the French Alps with Prince William in 2016.
The Princess of Wales is also the proud owner of the Torino style, which she’s worn while touring frosty Sweden and Norway; the Tivoli IV boot ($76+) offers a near-identical look.
Markle’s Joan of Arctics have earned a 4-star rating out of over 1,000 reviews and feature a washable, removable felt inner boot.

It’s not just royals who reach for their Sorels in snowy conditions; Aubrey Plaza and Julia Fox wore the Out N About ($59+) and Caribou ($200 $150) styles, respectively, at the Sundance Film Festival this year — with the latter star even teaming hers with a bikini inventively layered over a catsuit.
Katie Holmes, Nina Dobrev and Kristin Cavallari (to name just a few) have also sported the brand’s footwear over the years.

As for Markle and Middleton, their taste in shoes often overlaps.
Both own versions of Veja’s sustainable sneakers — the Princess of Wales favors the Esplar ($150), while Markle prefers the V10 ($175) — in addition to show-stopping heels like the Aquazzura Bow Pumps ($850).
