Nicolle Wallace’s family just grew by one.
The MSNBC anchor welcomed a baby girl via surrogate with her husband, Michael Schmidt, she announced on TV Tuesday.
Wallace, 51, and Schmidt, 40, named their newborn Isabella Sloane Schmidt.
“Viewers of the program have probably noticed that Nicolle has been missing from this chair the past week,” fill-in anchor Alicia Menendez said at the top of a segment on “Deadline: White House” before welcoming Wallace back for a brief return.
Wallace acknowledged the viewers’ theories about her absence before confirming their exciting news.
“Mike and Liam and I are smitten with her,” the news personality shared. “Our dogs are still rendering judgment. But we were able to keep it secret, obviously, because I wasn’t pregnant, but I never meant to keep it secret from our beloved viewers.
“I am so happy to share our happy news today.”
Wallace also has an 11-year-old son, Liam, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Mark Wallace. She admitted there are “pros and cons” to becoming a second-time mom at her age.

“You are tired. I was up all night last night, and I was, like, ‘wow, yeah, this is what 3:45 a.m. looks like,’” she said.
“I don’t see it a lot anymore. But it’s a blessing to be, you know, focused again on what has always grounded me, and that’s my beautiful family.”
She didn’t announce when she would return from maternity leave.
Page Six broke the news in April 2022 that Nicolle and Schmidt, a New York Times writer and MSNBC contributor, had secretly tied the knot in an intimate ceremony.
We also exclusively reported in March 2019 that the couple began dating. The two met on the set of her show, as he appears as a frequent guest and commentator.
