Love the bag, love the shoes, love everything.
Sydney Sweeney paid tribute to her favorite rom-com movie, “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles Thursday night, wearing a custom silver Miu Miu gown that appeared to be inspired by the maid of honor dress Julia Roberts rocks in the 1997 film.
The “Euphoria” actress, 26, shimmered in a slinky pale blue satin dress with a bedazzled underlay that was very similar to the purple style Roberts, 56, wore in the movie, piling on enough diamond jewelry to pay for her best friend’s wedding in the process.
While the “Pretty Woman” star’s character Julianne wore a lavender frock with shimmery halter-style straps underneath, Sweeney’s custom creation was a pale silvery blue featuring rhinestone-covered straps that hung off her shoulders.
The “White Lotus” star wore her new bob haircut in a slightly wave style, accessorizing with nearly $75,000 in Brilliant Earth jewelry including a $45,000 pair of lab-grown diamond studs and a $14,000 graduated natural diamond necklace.
She added five diamond rings from the ethically sourced retailer, wearing a Brilliant Earth Aurora ring ($1,190), Lina baguette ring ($4,590), Prism ring ($3,690) and a $995 Logan Hollowell open ring.
And while she rarely wears her own engagement ring from fiancé Jonathan Davinfor public appearances, the actress sported a different sparkler, donning a $3,690 Brilliant Earth engagement ring for the awards show.
Sweeney revealed “My Best Friend’s Wedding” was her favorite film in a December 2023 Deadline interview during the premiere of her movie “Anyone But You,” and fans were quick to point out the similarities of her GLAAD dress to her fave flick.
“it’s giving my best friends wedding julia roberts’ maid of honor dress” one social media user commented on Sweeney’s stylist, Molly Dickson’s, Instagram post on Thursday.
“My Best Friends Wedding vibes 😍” another added.

Over on X (formerly known as Twitter), a Sweeney fan account posted a side-by-side comparison of the two gowns, writing, “Sydney Sweeney’s look at the GLAAD awards is inspired by Julia Roberts in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding.’”
Her GLAAD look isn’t the only throwback ‘fit the “Immaculate” star has worn in recent days, with the actress stepping out in a Madonna-inspired white lace dress with matching thigh-highs at the premiere of the horror film this week. And, she even went straight to the archives for the Vanity Fair Oscars party, turning up in the same dress Angelina Jolie first wore to the awards show in 2004.
In “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” Cameron Diaz’s character tells Roberts, “You wouldn’t be comfortable if you weren’t distinctive” — and we have a feeling Sweeney feels the same.
